Walsall midfielder Romaine Sawyers has been linked with a move to the Premier League. However he has stated his preferred destination.
After injuries to Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, the Gunners are lean in the midfield, leaving only Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey as the only reliable players in that spot.
Ahead of the January transfer window, conscious steps have been put in place to bolster the midfield.
The likes of Ruben Neves and Lars Bender have been linked to the club but an unanticipated player feels that a move to the Emirates stadium is what the doctor prescribed.
“I am an Arsenal fan, me personally,” Sawyers told talkSPORT. “When I was at West Brom, I would go to the game and there was a bit of a connection there, but my actual team is Arsenal.”
Reacting to the move linking him to the English Premier Legue, he said:
“It’s flattering to hear. It shows that I am doing something good, but again my commitments are with Walsall.”
The player has been a regular in the Walsall’s starting XI where he has started 21 if the 22 League games played thus far this season. Walsall are currently on top of the League one table.
It is widely reported that Arsenal have completed the signing of FC Basel’s midfielder Mohamed Elneny and it is expected that medicals will commence in few days time.
