Arsenal are reportedly making contingency plans for the potential exit of Alexis Sanchez whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Reports from Daily Star suggests the Gunners have submitted a bid in the region of £40 million for Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema.
Although, it is believed the European champions will only sell for £50 million which is £10 million short of the figure submitted by the Gunners.
The Frenchman has always been linked with a move to the Emirates for the past few seasons but his recent struggles in front of goal might see his tenure at the Bernabeu come to an end next summer with manager, Zinedine Zidane open to selling the French striker.
However, the uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez has put the Gunners in a tight corner and have made the Gunners re-ignite their interest in French forward, Karim Benzema.
Chilean striker, Alexis Sanchez whose contract expires at the end of the season and has refused to extend his contract at the Emirates continues to be linked with Premier League leaders, Manchester City in the January transfer window and could be set to join the Citizens for a cut-price deal next month.
The 29-year-old has struggled in front of goal this season but has featured in 14 games for the Los Blancos this season scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists.
Karim Benzema might be suffering from a dip-in form but given his level of experience and quality, he will be a good replacement for Sanchez.
