According to ESPN, Arsenal have reportedly opened contract talks with Key Arsenal player, Alexis Sanchez, in view to reward his performances for club. It is reported that the club is confident of extending his contracts.
The Goal once reported that the 26-year-old demanded that his wage corresponds with his current status as the club’s star player. The player, who is in his second season at the club scored 25 goals in 52 appearances, spanning across all competitions in his debut season.
The desire to extend his current became more imperative when speculations circulated that Manchester United were preparing a £53m for the star man.
It was earlier rumored that the player could be on his way to the Spanish capital, after Real Madrid made advances to lure him back to Spain. However, the player has stated clearly that he is happy at his current club.
Sanchez currently ranks third on the salary scale at £130,000-a-week contract, behind Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil who are joint top at £140,000-a-week.
It appears the club may smash their wage structure with the proposed new deal.
