The Arsenal fans may see their favorite player leave, after club reveals plans to complete his deal on a permanent basis.
According to reports, Roma officials are making plans to tie their loanee, Wojciech Szczęsny, to a new contract which will see leave the Emirates.
Szczęsny joined them in the summer when he was ousted from his position as the club’s first choice goalkeeper.
He felt he had to leave after Arsenal completed the move of Petr Cech from Chelsea. He decided to join Roma in search of regular game time despite spending 5 seasons at the club in the capacity of the 1st choice goalkeeper.
Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini was quoted as saying: “We would like to keep Szczesny, but knowing Arsenal it will be difficult to achieve that.”
He has fitted seamlessly in the Roma’s team, where he has kept 2 cleansheets in 13 games. The i giallorossi sit third on the log, one point behind the league leaders.
The Poland international had earlier stated his intention to return to the North London next season when his contract expires but with Roma’s new plan and the guaranteed game time, it is left to be seen if he will make the return back to Arsenal.
