Reports ran rife yesterday concerning the match fitness of Alexis Sanchez, where it was widely reported that the player was suffering from a minor calf injury.
Worse still, was the admittance of the Chilean boss to playing him in the next game against Uruguay, saying that he will have to face some late fitness test to ascertain the level of his preparedness.
However, the 26-year-old has long rubbished such rumors by posting a clip on his instagram page :
— Alexis Sánchez (@Alexis_Sanchez) November 16, 2015
When loosely translated, it means: “You lack energy? I send you mine! #MyEnergySaving
He later revealed that he is among the travelling squad to Chile, implying that he could play.
We all know that Sanchez is very passionate about football – playing with a groin injury is nothing to him. However, it affects his output, much evident with the usual frustration on his face when things are not going his way.
He suffered a dip in form before the international break and seems to have continued in such vein for his National side.
It is in best interest that he is rested against Uruguay but I doubt if they will, sincerely, since he is one of their key players.
It is reported that Wenger has decided to rest him when he comes back, that is if he comes back injury free. Oxlade Chamberlain who is expected to be back against West Brom may play in his position.
